Everyone has seen a humanoid robot do something impressive on video. Almost nobody has seen one do the same thing on the four-hundredth try, on an ordinary Tuesday, next to a person who just wants to get through their shift.

That second thing is what this industry is short of. Not demos — evidence. Repeatable, audited, faintly boring evidence that a humanoid can hold down a job on a factory floor for eight hours a day, safely, and pass a conformity assessment while doing it.

Closing that gap is the entire premise of the Advanced Humanoid Forum 2027, in Munich on 20–21 January: two days built around the questions that decide purchase orders rather than headlines. Here is what is on the programme, who is turning up, and why we are going.

Safety certification against ISO 13482, the machinery directive, CE and TÜV — the part that decides whether a robot is allowed on the floor at all.

Why we’re going

Certification is the real bottleneck. A humanoid that cannot pass a conformity assessment is a research project, not a product. An agenda that puts ISO 13482, the machinery directive, CE and TÜV on the main stage is taking the unglamorous constraint seriously.

Both halves of the market in one room. Chinese OEMs and German industrial buyers rarely share a floor. Whatever gets said in the corridors between AGIBOT, Unitree and Volkswagen Group is worth more than most keynote slides.

Deployment data over demo reels. Sessions built around uptime and ROI are the ones that produce numbers we can actually check — and follow up on afterwards.
