XPeng completes Iron humanoid build on largely automated line

XPeng says it has completed production of its Iron humanoid using a manufacturing system that operates with 80% autonomy. The company is targeting mass production by the end of 2026, followed by launch and delivery in 2027.

SlashGear reported that the XPeng Iron humanoid walked off the assembly line after production. The account draws on an XPeng press release, which describes Iron as the world’s first advanced general purpose humanoid robot. That claim has not been independently verified, and the company has not defined the category sufficiently for comparison with other humanoid programs.

XPeng says Iron is already assisting with its own manufacturing process. The robot carries three AI chips and is designed for human like mobility and dexterity, with factory work among its intended applications. The report does not identify the chips, their combined computing performance, or the specific production tasks Iron performs.

The level of autonomy shown during the assembly line exit is also unclear. SlashGear describes the robot as walking off the line, but provides no technical account establishing whether the sequence was autonomous, remotely operated, or scripted.

The production claim is more concrete than another staged capability demonstration, but several basic manufacturing metrics remain undisclosed. XPeng has not provided output volumes, cycle times, yield figures, or a planned delivery total. Its end of 2026 mass production target will provide the next test of whether the reported manufacturing system can support repeatable builds rather than a limited initial run.
