Welcome, G1-D!

Unitree’s G1 D is a wheeled humanoid designed for AI training data collection, research, education, and light manipulation. Introduced in November 2025, it replaces the walking G1’s legs with a lifting column, while the Ultimate version adds a motorized wheeled base. Its arms each provide seven degrees of freedom, supporting manipulation across different working heights. The listed configuration has 59 degrees of freedom overall, including 40 in its hands, with five fingers per hand. At 160 cm tall and 90 kg, it offers a listed payload of 6 kg and runtime of six hours per charge. Maximum travel speed is listed as 5.4 km/h for mobile operation. Its overall skill score of 5 out of 10 places it in the developing category, with a stronger manipulation rating of 4 out of 5 and a lower navigation rating of 1 out of 5. This balance makes manipulation the central focus, with mobility serving as a supporting feature rather than the platform’s defining strength.

Supported capabilities include obstacle avoidance, sorting goods, assembling products, filling and emptying a dishwasher, and folding clothes. Together, these activities span object organization, assembly, and household handling, giving researchers several practical settings for collecting manipulation data. Sorting goods provides a setting for studying object selection and placement, while assembling products introduces coordinated handling of components. Dishwasher loading and unloading involve moving items between storage locations and appliance interiors. Folding clothes adds the challenge of manipulating flexible materials rather than rigid objects. The lifting column and articulated arms provide a physical configuration suited to exploring these tasks at different heights. On the Ultimate version, obstacle avoidance supports movement around work areas, complementing the robot’s stronger manipulation profile.

The G1 D is listed as in production, with an advertised price of USD 51,900. Manufacturer Unitree Robotics, based in Hangzhou, China, positions the platform for developers, researchers, educators, and teams collecting AI training data. Its broader significance lies in extending the G1 family beyond walking robots toward a manipulation platform with optional wheeled mobility. An eight core CPU provides onboard computing, with optional GPU modules including NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16 GB. Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi Fi 6 support connectivity. Low payload arms and the Ultimate version’s collision and obstacle sensors are relevant to shared workspaces, but the platform has no formal safety certification. Deployment therefore requires application specific safety assessment rather than assuming unrestricted operation around people.
