Description

G1-D is the first wheeled humanoid from Unitree Robotics, the Chinese robot maker from Hangzhou. Unitree launched it in November 2025 as a new branch of its popular G1 family. Unlike the walking G1, the G1-D sits on a lifting column instead of legs. The Ultimate version also adds a motorized wheeled base, so it can move between rooms on its own. In short, Unitree traded acrobatics for stability, reach and long working hours.

The robot has two human-like arms with seven joints each, plus a flexible waist. Its lifting column lets it rise or lower its upper body as a task requires. As a result, it can pick items from the floor and reach high shelves. Users can choose between a simple gripper, three-finger hands and five-finger dexterous hands. Moreover, cameras in its head and both wrists give it a close view of every grasp.

Unitree built G1-D mainly as a tool for collecting robot training data. Operators can guide it through tasks while it records what it sees and does. Afterwards, AI teams use this data to teach robots new skills. The Ultimate version also carries LiDAR, depth cameras and collision sensors for safe navigation. Additionally, its battery lasts up to about six hours, so it can keep working through a full shift.

My mission, together with the team, is to help your organization understand the landscape, compare solutions, and move toward successful robot deployments.

The main users are research labs, AI companies and developers who train robot models. The G1-D can also handle light tasks in labs, shops and simple production lines. Meanwhile, its familiar G1 upper body makes it easy to share software across the family. Unitree also supports over-the-air updates and custom development. Overall, G1-D shows how Unitree turns its walking humanoid into a practical data-collection workstation.
