UBTECH and FAW-Volkswagen partner on humanoid logistics trials
UBTECH Robotics and FAW-Volkswagen have entered a strategic partnership to develop and test embodied intelligence robots for logistics operations, according to Gasgoo. The companies also plan demonstration scenarios to support humanoid robots in smart manufacturing. The announcement describes a development and testing agreement, not a confirmed production deployment: Gasgoo does not identify a robot model, fleet size, specific logistics task or trial schedule.
The humanoid logistics work targets manufacturing operations that must accommodate increasingly varied vehicle configurations. FAW-Volkswagen operates five production bases, providing a substantial industrial setting, although the report does not specify which sites will participate. UBTECH says its industrial humanoid platform combines an embodied intelligence brain, motion control, robot hardware and swarm intelligence. Its software stack uses foundation, world and action models for perception, prediction and decision-making. These are descriptions of the platform architecture, rather than evidence of task performance under factory conditions. The report provides no cycle times, reliability figures or measures of human intervention for the planned work.
Separately, UBTECH said its humanoid robot factory, designed for production at the 10,000-unit scale, has begun operating. That figure describes the factory’s intended production scale, not robots already manufactured or ordered by FAW-Volkswagen. The company expects several product lines for industrial, commercial and household applications to ramp up production and begin deliveries during the second half of 2026. Gasgoo does not connect those delivery plans to a timetable for the partnership.
