TPC Robotics unveils seven actuators for humanoid robots
South Korea’s TPC Robotics has introduced seven actuator models under its own brand for use in humanoid robot joints. The lineup comprises three rotary actuators, three linear actuators and a finger joint module, according to BigGo Finance.
The rotary models are intended for neck, elbow and hip joints. TPC Robotics is positioning the linear models for higher load areas including the calves, thighs and elbows, while the finger module extends the range into manipulation hardware. Sales efforts will target humanoid manufacturers and equipment companies in South Korea and overseas.
Actuator range follows HCBOT agreement
The product release follows a joint development and production agreement signed in May with China’s Zhejiang Hechuan Humanoid Robot, known as HCBOT. The agreement included technology transfer covering actuators and related components. TPC Robotics has since established an AI autonomous manufacturing research center to support its robotics work.
The company says the seven products cover the primary drive components needed across a humanoid body. The source provides no torque, speed, weight, dimensions, control interfaces or pricing, however, so the TPC Robotics actuators cannot yet be compared meaningfully with competing joint modules. No customer qualification or humanoid integration has been disclosed either. This is a component portfolio launch, not evidence of a completed humanoid platform.
Separate motor project targets display equipment
TPC Robotics is also executing a linear motor supply project valued at approximately ₩5 billion, which the source equates to about $3.6 million. Despite being announced alongside the humanoid actuator range, those motors are destined for next generation mobile display manufacturing equipment rather than humanoid robots.
The company received an initial order worth approximately ₩600 million, or about $440,000, covering samples and early stage volume in August. Delivery was scheduled for Vietnam in September, with the remaining project volume expected to follow during the second half. The customer was identified only as a global automation specialist.
A TPC Robotics subsidiary directly develops and manufactures the linear motors. The company expects that arrangement to support margins as it seeks full year profitability after reporting a loss in the first half amid stronger market competition. For the humanoid business, the next useful indicators will be technical specifications, external customers and integrations into working robots.
