Meta reportedly builds Max humanoid prototype with Fourier

Meta has reportedly built a humanoid prototype called Max in partnership with Chinese robotics company Fourier, according to a LinkedIn post by robotics commentator Lukas M. Ziegler. He attributed the original reporting to The Information’s Jyoti Mann. Ziegler described the robot as an internal physical embodiment of Meta’s Muse agent, intended for household tasks rather than manufacturing work.

According to Ziegler’s account, the Meta humanoid prototype was built in approximately three months and weighs around 106 pounds (48 kg). He said Meta is already building a second version and has no plans to sell the units. That describes an internal development platform, rather than a commercial robot offering. The household focus is an intended application in the post, not a demonstrated set of domestic capabilities.

Ziegler characterized the Fourier partnership as a way for Meta’s AI and software teams to get physical hardware quickly while developing the intelligence layer. He pointed to Fourier’s roots in exoskeletons and rehabilitation robotics, alongside its bipedal platforms, actuator supply chains and manufacturing expertise. In his reading, Fourier supplies the hardware foundation for Meta to develop an agent that can act in the physical world.
