Figure says robotics dataset reaches 86,000 weekly users

In a post on X, Brett Adcock said Figure has crossed 86,000 weekly active users uploading data to its robotics dataset. He also said Figure is building “the largest and most diverse robotics dataset in the world,” a company claim that the post did not substantiate with comparisons or an independent benchmark.

Adcock said Figure’s website includes a live map viewer that displays each pixel of data as it is uploaded around the world. The post did not identify what the uploaded data contains, how Figure defines an active user, or whether the 86,000 accounts contribute at similar volumes. It also provided no figures for total data volume, task coverage, hardware coverage or geographic distribution.

For robotics teams, scale alone does not establish that a dataset is useful for training embodied AI systems. Coverage, labeling, provenance, permissions and the relationship between uploaded pixels and robot actions would determine what the collection can support. Figure’s user count is a specific company reported activity metric, but its broader claim about dataset leadership remains unverified based on the information Adcock disclosed.
