WUJI Hand 2 demonstrates pen spinning under external disturbance
WUJI Hand 2 is demonstrating autonomous pen spinning while responding to external disturbances, according to a LinkedIn post by Onur Sezgin, founder and CEO of CTO Robotics Media. Sezgin describes the demonstration as a test of dexterous manipulation and adaptive control. His post shares WUJI’s work as a media account, rather than as an announcement from the technology’s developer.
According to the post, the system combines reinforcement learning with motion reference tracking. Its control policy was trained in simulation and then transferred to the physical robotic hand. The Hand 2 has 20 degrees of freedom, which Sezgin connects to the finger coordination and real time adjustments involved in the task. The reported behavior is autonomous: the hand spins the pen while adjusting to disruptions, rather than simply following an uninterrupted movement sequence.
The technical focus is sustained manipulation within the hand. Keeping the pen rotating while its movement is disturbed tests coordination and adaptation together, which is the capability Sezgin highlights in sharing the demonstration. The post places both the simulation trained policy and its execution on physical hardware at the center of that account.
