Welcome, Roboto Origin!

Roboto Origin is a full stack open source humanoid from Shanghai RoboParty Technology Co., Ltd., built for robotics research, education, makers, and hands on development. It is a developing platform with a Humanoid Guide skill score of 3, with navigation rated 2 out of 5 and manipulation rated 1 out of 5. The robot uses a 23 degree of freedom biped body and stands 125 centimeters tall at 34 kilograms, giving teams a compact format for studying embodied intelligence, motion control, simulation, reinforcement learning, and deployment on real hardware. Its structure uses CNC machined aluminum, with DAMIAO servo motors and joint gearing chosen for torque and compactness. The compute stack centers on a D Robotics RDK X5 with eight Cortex A55 cores, a 10 TOPS BPU, and a 32 GFLOPS GPU, paired with Ubuntu 22.04, Linux, and ROS 2. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4, CAN FD, Wi Fi 6 support, Gigabit Ethernet support, and USB to CAN. A two hour runtime and human safe operation support practical lab use.

Roboto Origin is most compelling as a learning and experimentation platform that connects locomotion, perception, and manipulation in one open system. Its current demonstrated skill profile includes obstacle avoidance, sorting goods, and threading a needle, which together show a useful spread from mobile scene interaction to precise task execution. Obstacle avoidance supports navigation research in shared spaces and helps teams test planning, sensing, and controller tuning. Sorting goods gives developers a concrete workflow for pick, place, and task sequencing studies. Threading a needle highlights delicate alignment and control, offering a challenging benchmark for perception and end effector precision. For universities, labs, and developers, these use cases create a practical bridge between simulation studies and embodied trials on physical hardware without locking the user into a closed development environment.

Roboto Origin is available as a prototype and is positioned as an accessible entry point into humanoid development, with a listed price of 4,900 USD. Its broader significance comes from its open approach: hardware, software, training workflows, assembly guidance, calibration resources, and deployment tools are shared to support modification and secondary development. That makes it valuable not only as a robot, but also as a teaching instrument and a reference platform for teams building their own systems. In a field where many humanoids remain closed and difficult to inspect, Roboto Origin gives students and engineers direct exposure to how a biped machine is assembled, controlled, and improved. For China based robotics development and the wider global education market, it strengthens the ecosystem around transparent, practical humanoid experimentation.
