Unitree claims its Superman humanoid can sprint at 28.3 mph

Unitree Robotics says its “Superman” humanoid prototype can reach 28.3 miles per hour and perform a 6.5 foot standing vertical jump, according to Thomasnet. The reported speed is equivalent to 41.5 feet per second. Thomasnet describes the figures as company demonstration results that have not been independently verified, so they should be read as claimed capabilities rather than established benchmarks.

Unitree says the prototype achieved those results with legs measuring 2.7 feet long, after slightly more than three months of development. Thomasnet reports that the demonstration video also shows a steady landing after the vertical jump. That landing is a useful part of the demonstration: high speed running and jumping test not just propulsion, but balance and whole body coordination as the robot absorbs impact and regains a stable stance.

For robotics operators, the immediate relevance is dynamic control rather than sprint speed alone. Thomasnet points to difficult terrain, disaster response and hazardous operations as potential applications for improved humanoid mobility, while identifying reliability and real world adaptability as deployment hurdles. The Unitree Superman humanoid remains a prototype, and the company says its current hardware still has significant room for improvement.
