Dream-1 robot API opens at $3/hour, Mete Gultekin reports
Dream Labs has opened its Dream-1 robot API to everyone with pricing starting at $3 per hour, Mete Gultekin said in a LinkedIn post. Gultekin, commenting on the robotics field, said the model can control different bimanual robots without robot specific fine tuning. That is the central technical claim in his account: using the same model across different dual arm robots without a separate fine tuning step for each.
Gultekin described the trend as robotics entering the “API era,” pointing to several developers offering or preparing access to robotics models. According to his post, Google DeepMind offers Gemini Robotics ER 2 through its API, starting at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. Those token prices and Dream-1’s hourly starting price use different billing units, so they are not directly comparable measures of the cost of running a robot task.
Gultekin also said Generalist and Physical Intelligence are introducing API access to their robotics models, with waitlists currently open. His practical emphasis was reliability across different robots, tasks and real world environments. For robotics operators, that frames the evaluation around repeatable task performance across hardware and settings, rather than API access alone.
