LinkedIn roundup highlights Digit 5 and humanoid scale plans

In a LinkedIn post, technology content marketer Odii Sopuruchi said Agility Robotics had unveiled the Digit 5 humanoid with a claimed 20 hours of work after a nine minute charge. The post also listed a 23 kg payload, early access in the first half of 2027 and more than $300 million in orders.

Sopuruchi wrote that Digit 5 can stop or squat when a person enters its path and can operate without a safety cage. Those are consequential safety and endurance claims for an industrial humanoid, but the post text provided no test methodology, certification details, operating conditions or customer breakdown. They should therefore be treated as unverified commentary rather than confirmed specifications or results from Agility Robotics.

The roundup also pointed to expanding humanoid production plans in China. According to Sopuruchi, UBTECH opened a Liuzhou line targeting annual capacity of 10,000 humanoids, Unitree shipped the G1+, and ugo presented Nova with mass production planned for 2027. The text did not provide shipment volumes or production timelines beyond those claims.

Elsewhere, the post said SoftBank Group had agreed to acquire Marc Raibert’s Robotics and AI Institute from Hyundai. It also estimated August robotics funding at about $4.9 billion, with humanoids representing roughly one in five deals. No underlying funding dataset was included.
