Meta acquires Assured Robot Intelligence for humanoid push

Meta Platforms has acquired Assured Robot Intelligence, a startup developing AI models for robots, as part of its humanoid robotics initiative. A Meta spokesperson confirmed the completed acquisition, according to Stocktwits, which cited reporting by Bloomberg. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Assured Robot Intelligence says it develops AI intended to help robots operate in high value labor markets. Meta described the company as being “at the frontier of robotic intelligence designed to enable robots to understand, predict and adapt to human behaviors in complex and dynamic environments.”

The startup’s team, including cofounders Lerrel Pinto and Xiaolong Wang, will join the research division of Meta Superintelligence Labs, Bloomberg reported. They are expected to work closely with Meta Robotics Studio, the team established last year to develop underlying technology for humanoid robots.

The acquisition adds robotics researchers rather than a disclosed robot platform. Meta has not provided hardware specifications, deployment plans, a product schedule, or details about how Assured Robot Intelligence’s models will be integrated into its humanoid work. For now, the deal is primarily a research and talent acquisition.

Wang previously worked as a researcher at Nvidia. Pinto cofounded Fauna Robotics before leaving in 2025. Bloomberg also reported that Amazon acquired Fauna in March to support its own humanoid robot effort, illustrating the competition among large technology companies for teams with experience in robot intelligence.
