Welcome, AICO 2!

AICO 2 is a mobile humanoid style robot from Flexiv Robotics built for practical industrial work where movement and two arm manipulation matter more than legged locomotion. It combines a wheeled base with two seven axis arms, giving 14 degrees of freedom overall, and it is designed to operate safely around people. The machine stands 160 cm tall, weighs 281 kg, reaches up to 4 km per hour, and is rated to handle loads up to 8 kg. Its overall skill score is 4 out of 10, which places it in a developing stage, with 1 out of 5 for navigation and 3 out of 5 for manipulation. Flexiv centers the system on force controlled actuation, allowing the arms to sense contact and adjust in real time during work. AICO 2 also brings six hours of runtime per charge, IP54 protection, and an aluminum alloy body with a steel base. Connectivity includes EtherCAT, Ethernet, RDK interface, and TCP IP, supported by Flexiv RDK and Linux based real time control.

AICO 2 is strongest in applications that combine obstacle avoidance with stable handling tasks inside factories and warehouses. Its Laser SLAM navigation and differential drive base support movement through shared industrial spaces while avoiding obstacles and repositioning between work areas. On the manipulation side, the dual arms and contact aware control are well suited to sorting goods, especially when objects vary in placement or require careful handling rather than simple repeated pick and place. The same force sensitive approach also supports assembling products, where alignment, insertion, and controlled contact are often more important than pure speed. This makes the robot useful for workflows that need a mobile platform to bring capable arms to the task instead of bringing every task to a fixed robot cell.

AICO 2 is in production and represents Flexiv Robotics’ view of humanoid automation as an industrial tool rather than a demonstration platform. It comes from a United States company focused on real world deployment, and its design highlights where commercial value can already be captured today: mobile manipulation, safe human proximity, and adaptable automation across manufacturing, logistics, and research settings. Even with a modest navigation tier and a midlevel manipulation tier, the platform shows why wheeled humanoid style systems remain important in the market. They can cover multiple stations, reduce the need for several fixed installs, and bring force controlled interaction to environments where precision and flexibility are both required. In that sense, AICO 2 contributes to the broader shift from static robotics toward mobile, task aware automation.
