Description
Mantis Standard, nicknamed “Xiaobai” (Little White), is a modular wheeled humanoid from Blue Worm, a robotics startup in Xi’an, China. The company spun out of Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2025 and launched the robot in September 2026. Its biggest idea is “one brain, many forms.” Users can combine its arms, wheeled base, lifting waist and vision head in different ways. As a result, the same system can work as a single arm, a mobile base, a dual-arm station or a complete humanoid.
Blue Worm built Mantis Standard for real work rather than shows. For this reason, it uses wheels instead of legs and focuses on what the arms can do. In fact, the company wanted the arms to look “thicker than the legs” to signal that focus. Its lifting waist lets it reach from low surfaces to tabletops and shelves. Published demos show it handling objects, folding fabric, working with both arms and operating industrial equipment.
The robot also doubles as a development and data platform. Researchers can control it through VR to collect real-world training data. In addition, it supports ROS 2, popular simulators and open AI models such as π0.5 and ACT. Blue Worm’s own BW-Brain and Wormhole models run across every configuration. Therefore, teams can move from simulation to data collection, training and real deployment on one machine.

My mission, together with the team, is to help your organization understand the landscape, compare solutions, and move toward successful robot deployments.
The robot stands out for its friendly design and low entry price. Its head takes inspiration from a handheld gimbal camera, giving it a cute, recognizable look in appliance white. Meanwhile, a starting price of under $1,400 makes it one of the most affordable humanoid platforms. Buyers can start with one module and add more as their needs grow. In short, it gives labs and businesses a flexible, budget-friendly way into embodied AI.
