Description
D1 is a full-size humanoid robot from HONOR, the Chinese smartphone brand from Shenzhen. HONOR built it as part of its new robotics line, which the company launched in 2026. The robot became famous in April 2026 at the Beijing E-Town humanoid robot half-marathon. There, it crossed the finish line in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. In doing so, it beat the human men’s half-marathon world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds.
The D1 did not win alone, however. HONOR’s Lightning robots took the first six places in the race. Moreover, the winning robot ran the course with autonomous navigation instead of remote control. D1 also received the event’s Best Design Award. As a result, HONOR went from newcomer to headline act in a single day.

D1 stands about as tall as an adult and has unusually long legs. Its long legs give it a big stride and fast acceleration. HONOR also used its smartphone experience to solve the robot’s biggest challenges. For example, a liquid cooling system keeps its motors cool during long, fast runs. In addition, HONOR designed its own joint modules and a high-energy battery pack.

For now, D1 serves mainly as a showcase of HONOR’s engineering skills. In August 2026, it ran the 10 km route at the Malaysia Marathon and marched in Malaysia’s National Day parade. Still, D1 shows how quickly a phone maker can become a serious name in humanoid robotics.
