Description
A1 is a compact humanoid robot from HONOR, the Chinese smartphone brand from Shenzhen. It belongs to HONOR’s new robotics line, which the company introduced in 2026. HONOR first showed a humanoid at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that March. However, A1 won wider attention a few weeks later at a robot half-marathon in Beijing. There, it won the Best Gait Award for running in a remarkably human-like way.
Unlike many robots with stiff, mechanical steps, A1 swings its arms and strides like a person. HONOR designed it to copy natural human running patterns as closely as possible. In addition, the robot can find its way on its own with autonomous navigation. It also understands spoken requests and answers them through voice dialogue. As a result, A1 feels more like a companion than a machine.

HONOR brings its smartphone know-how straight into its robots. For example, it borrowed liquid cooling from its phones to keep the robot’s motors cool. Similarly, it used lightweight metal building methods from consumer electronics. HONOR also builds its own joint modules and motion control software. Therefore, the company controls most of the technology inside the robot.
