Description
RobotEra built ERA-42 as the AI brain behind its humanoid robots, including Star1 and L7. The model brings together vision, language, touch, and body movement into one system. Because of this, the robot can watch a task, understand a spoken instruction, and figure out how to act, all in one flow. It also runs directly on the robot itself, so it can respond right away without waiting on the cloud. This lets the robot use tools, pick up objects, and adjust its grip in real time. For example, it has picked up chopsticks to cook and serve food, and it can tighten a screw or right an overturned cup. These are not pre-programmed motions. Instead, the robot learns them through small amounts of new data, often in just a couple of hours.
RobotEra positions ERA-42 as a foundation for general-purpose robotics rather than a single-task tool. The same model architecture powers different robot bodies across the company’s lineup, from the fast-moving Star1 to the more advanced L7. As a result, RobotEra can upgrade the robot’s intelligence without redesigning its hardware each time. This approach has helped the company move from research demos toward real deployment, including logistics hubs run in partnership with major delivery operators. Meanwhile, the model keeps learning from large-scale video and teleoperation data, so its abilities expand over time. RobotEra, a Tsinghua University spin-out, sees this combination of hardware and software as central to bringing capable humanoid robots into everyday industries and homes.
