Description
Elf Xuan 2.0 is a lifelike upper-body humanoid robot from AheadForm, a Shanghai robotics startup founded by Yuhang Hu, who did his PhD at Columbia University. It is the second generation of AheadForm’s “Elf” character, an elven princess with pointed ears. AheadForm unveiled 2.0 just before the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing. Its name, Xuan, means fine jade and stands for purity and timelessness. In fact, the character began as a collaboration with NetEase Games for its title Justice Online.
The robot’s face remains its signature feature. More than 30 tiny motors move the face beneath a soft silicone skin. This skin shows details as fine as blood vessels, with precision under half a millimeter. As a result, Xuan smiles, frowns and holds eye contact in a strikingly human way. It also syncs its lips to speech and even sings; it performed an original song at AgiBot’s robot gala in February 2026.
Version 2.0 now brings the body to life too. AheadForm added independent control of the waist and the upper and lower arms. Meanwhile, the company’s own quiet joint motors keep movements smooth and repeatable during long shows. The robot also links its body motion with its facial expressions. Therefore, it moves from a talking head to a full upper-body performer.

AheadForm designed Xuan for stages, exhibitions and brand displays. For example, it can sing, narrate stories, greet guests or serve as a brand ambassador. Moreover, teams can change its makeup, hair and styling for each event without touching the core frame. AheadForm also pairs its robots with AI language models for natural conversation. In short, Elf Xuan 2.0 shows how close robots can come to human expression.
