Description

CYBORG WO1 is a wheeled humanoid robot from Cyborg Robotics (赛博格机器人), a company in Guangdong, China. Its name comes from “cybernetic organism,” a blend of living being and machine. The company’s founders include scientists who returned to China after working at top research institutes abroad. Their mission is clear: let robots take on dangerous jobs so people stay safe. As a result, the company focuses on high-risk industries such as power, gas, oil, chemicals and mining.

The WO1 places a human-like upper body on an omnidirectional wheeled base. It stands about 160 cm tall and uses two long arms with dexterous five-finger hands. Moreover, its powerful joints let it lift heavy materials while still handling small, delicate parts. Cyborg also designed a whole-body system that lets the robot use its arms, shoulders and chest together. Therefore, it can carry heavy loads much like a person hugging a box.

The robot sees its surroundings through several cameras, LiDAR and other sensors. For example, a head camera scans the wider area while a chest camera captures close-up details. In addition, a powerful onboard computer helps it plan paths and make decisions in real time. It can even work in low light and on rough ground. The hands use a tendon system inspired by the human hand, so they grip objects of many shapes.

Cyborg builds the WO1 for equipment inspection, sorting and material handling. In particular, it targets factory floors, warehouses and dangerous industrial sites. Its body uses a lightweight yet strong aluminum-magnesium alloy. Furthermore, Cyborg’s own AI model helps it adapt to new tasks. In short, the WO1 aims to protect workers by taking over risky and physically demanding jobs.
