Description
Aether is a foundation model that works as a silicon brain for humanoid robots. JoyIn, a Chinese robotics company from Suzhou, built it and announced it in September 2026. The team designed Aether after the human nervous system. As a result, the model links memory and decision-making with fast body control. JoyIn says this gives robots a natural feel for physics and touch. Moreover, the company says the model learns mostly from human video instead of robot data.
Unlike many popular robot models, Aether relies on perception rather than text. JoyIn reports a first-attempt success rate above 90 percent on robots from Unitree and AgiBot. However, independent tests have not yet confirmed this result. The company adds that Aether remembers past events and keeps learning from experience. For example, JoyIn cites a ten-minute demo that runs in a single take. JoyIn plans to open-source some parts, such as its touch technology. The energy-related parts will stay closed.
