1X Technologies, a U.S.-Norwegian AI robotics company, presents NEO Gamma, the latest evolution of its home-focused humanoid robot series, succeeding NEO Beta. NEO Gamma is engineered to integrate seamlessly into domestic environments, boasting a minimalist design with a soft, 3D-printed nylon knit suit crafted using a Japanese Shimaseki machine. This suit, paired with soft covers and tendon-driven joint actuation, ensures quiet, safe movements—ideal for households with pets or children. The robot’s hardware is ten times more reliable and ten decibels quieter than its predecessors, reflecting rigorous stress testing and real-world refinement.
NEO Gamma’s standout features include a natural human gait with synchronized arm swings, the ability to squat and pick up objects, and balanced sitting capabilities, all powered by a multipurpose whole-body controller running at 100Hz using reinforcement learning from human motion data. Its AI advancements are equally impressive: a visual manipulation model enables it to handle diverse objects in unfamiliar settings, while an in-house large language model (LLM) facilitates natural conversations and context-aware body language, enhancing its “companion feature.” Emotive Ear Rings provide real-time visual feedback, making interactions more intuitive.
