Schaeffler opens Taicang humanoid factory with six robots
Schaeffler opened its Taicang Humanoid Lighthouse on October 20, 2026, with six humanoid robots deployed on a joint module assembly line, according to Gasgoo. The approximately 7,500 square meter facility combines robot component production, humanoid training and industrial deployment. The robots work across material handling, parts sorting, press fitting, inspection and packaging, giving the site a defined manufacturing role alongside its training function.
The Taicang humanoid factory has six categories of industrial training scenarios, including visual inspection, material picking and component assembly. A digital twin system connects training with production validation and process optimization, Gasgoo reported. The setup places task training and manufacturing applications at the same site, rather than treating training as a separate activity. Schaeffler positions the facility as a collaboration platform for Chinese robotics companies working on humanoid deployment in real manufacturing environments.
Schaeffler Embodied Intelligence (Taicang) Co., Ltd., established in early 2026, developed the factory. Alongside the opening, Schaeffler said it had secured new orders from two Chinese customers in the third quarter of 2026, bringing its cumulative humanoid robotics order value to €400 million. That figure covers the company’s humanoid robotics orders, rather than orders attributed specifically to the Taicang facility.
