Description
FF Nova is a small humanoid robot from Faraday Future, the Los Angeles electric-vehicle maker, and its sister company FF EAI Robotics Ecosystem (FFR). The companies launched it on October 15, 2026, calling it America’s first true embodied AI humanoid under $2,500. Nova stands about 50 cm tall and weighs just 2.8 kg. As a result, you can pick it up with one hand and carry it in a backpack. Faraday Future calls it a “physical AI lab in a backpack.”
Nova targets developers, universities and schools. For example, developers can train new skills in simulation and then test them on the real robot. This is the same workflow that full-size humanoids use, but at a fraction of the cost. In addition, an open SDK, ROS 2 support and a Skills Store let users build and share new behaviors. Faraday Future also offers a reinforcement learning program built on NVIDIA’s Isaac platform.
The robot moves in two ways. It walks on two legs, and it can also ride a detachable wheeled base for faster travel. Meanwhile, a 2D LiDAR, a wide-angle camera and a 3D depth sensor help it see and map its surroundings. Three microphones let it recognize who is speaking and from which direction. An expressive face display and lights give it a friendly personality.

Nova also carries AI on board. A voice language model handles natural conversation, and an AI agent lets it act on instructions, even sent remotely. Moreover, it supports navigation, language models and vision-language-action models running on its own processor. Faraday Future is rolling it out in phases, starting with 100 invitation-only units for developers and schools. In short, Nova makes hands-on humanoid AI development affordable and portable.
