Description
DYNA-2 is the new flagship robot model from Dyna Robotics, a Redwood City startup that builds working robots for businesses. Unlike its predecessor, DYNA-1, it predicts both the next video frames and the next actions. Dyna calls this a world-action model. The team pre-trained it on more than a million hours of first-person human video, with no robot action data. As a result, Dyna found that performance keeps climbing as it adds more human video. That finding hints at a cheaper path to smarter robots.
After brief extra training, DYNA-2 worked on fixed two-arm stations, five-fingered robot hands, and an early humanoid prototype. For example, about ten minutes of data taught two robot hands to twist open a bottle cap. In addition, the model stayed reliable in dim light and with part of its view blocked. At new customer sites, it met production standards 87% of the time without any tuning, while DYNA-1 reached 46%. Dyna already runs DYNA-1 robots in hotels, restaurants, and laundromats. So, DYNA-2 is the next brain for that commercial fleet, though Dyna has not shared public access plans.
