Description
RynnBrain is an open embodied “brain” model from Alibaba’s DAMO Academy. It does not move motors directly. Instead, it helps robots understand their surroundings and plan what to do next. The team trained it on large amounts of first-person video, spatial data and general knowledge. As a result, it can find objects, recall where things were and sketch movement paths. The first release came in three dense sizes and one mixture-of-experts version.
Robots can use RynnBrain to break a job into steps that point at exact objects and spots. A separate action model then turns those steps into motion, so the pair works as a hierarchy. DAMO also released versions tuned for task planning, navigation and step-by-step pointing. All weights are free on Hugging Face and ModelScope under the Apache-2.0 license. Later, version 1.1 added sizes up to 122B and tests on a Unitree G1 humanoid. Alibaba sees RynnBrain as a core building block for general-purpose robots.
