Description
Gemini Robotics-ER 2 is the newest embodied reasoning model from Google DeepMind, and it replaces version 1.6. It works as a high-level brain for robots. For example, it talks with people, understands space and plans long jobs step by step. Then it hands the actual motion to a separate action model. Google launched it alongside Gemini Robotics 2, so it anchors the company’s latest robotics stack.
The model watches live video to track how a task is going and to spot the exact moment something breaks. As a result, robots can adjust plans on long jobs with hundreds of decisions. It also calls tools, robot APIs and VLA models, and it links to the Gemini Live API for fast two-way streaming. In one demo, it steered Spot’s navigation and arm to fetch an item. Meanwhile, it can help different robots, such as Apollo 2 and a Franka arm pair, share a task. Developers can use it now in Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, while an enterprise preview runs on Google’s agent platform.
