Description
Fengxing-001 is a full-size humanoid robot from AVIC (Aviation Industry Corporation of China), China’s state-owned aerospace and aviation group. AVIC showed it publicly at the 2026 World Robot Conference in Beijing. The robot stands about 1.8 meters tall and weighs around 80 kilograms. AVIC has been developing it since 2024. Unlike most humanoids, it targets aviation work rather than homes or shops.
AVIC built the robot around technology from its aircraft programs. For example, compact motors derived from aero-engine technology give its legs extra load-bearing strength. It also combines electric and hydraulic power in a hybrid drive system. In addition, it borrows “power-by-wire” technology from aviation to drive its strongest joints. As a result, it can carry substantial loads while staying relatively compact.
AVIC is developing Fengxing-001 for several aviation-related roles. These include intelligent manufacturing, aircraft maintenance and ground support. The robot can walk while carrying 20 kilograms and handle loads of up to 15 kilograms. According to AVIC staff, two or three robots could do a heavy loading job that normally needs four to six workers. It can also jump 30 centimeters and move at a slow jog.

AVIC is also testing the robot inside aircraft cockpits. The company says it has completed simulated trials where the robot operated an aircraft on instruction. Experts suggest a version without legs could convert older aircraft to unmanned operation at lower cost. However, the robot remains a development prototype with few published details. In short, Fengxing-001 shows how China’s aviation industry is exploring humanoids for its own specialized tasks.
