Description
Barcelona, Spain. PAL calls it the next generation of its popular TIAGo research robot. It rolls on an omnidirectional wheeled base and has a humanlike upper body with two arms and an expressive head. In addition, its torso rises and lowers, so it can reach both the floor and high shelves. As a result, it works comfortably in labs, hospitals, shops and factories.
PAL designed TIAGo Pro to work safely alongside people. Its arms use elastic actuators that absorb energy on impact, which reduces harm and damage during collisions. Moreover, every arm joint senses torque and has built-in safety brakes. The head features a 10-inch touchscreen face, speakers, microphones and colored lights. Therefore, it suits shared workspaces and research on how people and robots interact.
TIAGo Pro also serves as a platform for embodied AI. Researchers can connect large language models, perception systems and teleoperation tools to study how robots learn and act. Its many sensors and data tools make it easy to collect and analyze experiment data. In fact, PAL showcased live teleoperation of TIAGo Pro at MWC Barcelona 2026. The company has also taken the robot on tour across Asia alongside its biped Kangaroo.

The robot runs fully open-source software built on ROS 2. Developers get ready-made navigation and motion tools, plus support for popular simulators. Meanwhile, users can add upgrades such as an NVIDIA Jetson computer, force sensors or multi-fingered Allegro hands. An extra battery and a docking station can also extend its working time. In short, TIAGo Pro offers a flexible, safe platform for both advanced research and real-world applications.
