Description
Bumi is a small, family-friendly humanoid robot from Noetix Robotics, a Beijing company founded by Tsinghua and Zhejiang university researchers. Noetix launched it in October 2025 as the world’s first high-performance humanoid priced under $1500. In fact, it sold over 200 units in its first three hours of pre-sale. Bumi stands just under one meter tall, about the size of a young child. As a result, an adult can easily pick it up, and a child can push it around a room.
Bumi focuses on companionship and learning at home. For example, it chats naturally with children and understands everyday speech in context. It also helps them practice English with nods and hand gestures. In addition, kids can program its moves by dragging blocks in a graphical app. Older users can even move on to Python programming.
The robot moves in a lively, humanlike way. It walks, dances and stands back up when asked. To achieve this, Noetix recorded the movements of real children and used that data to train the robot. Meanwhile, its body uses tough composite materials with rounded edges, so it resists drops and keeps kids safe. Bumi even appeared on China’s 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala.

Noetix also made Bumi simple to control and fun to share. Users run it from a phone app, with no separate remote needed. For example, they can steer it, pick a dance or teach it new moves by guiding its limbs and saving them. In addition, several Bumis can dance together in sync as a paid add-on. In short, Bumi brings a real walking humanoid into everyday homes at an accessible price.
