Description

The CR Hand is a compact, human-sized robotic hand from Curious Robotics, a small company based in Chiba, Japan. Curious Robotics designed it as an affordable hand for education and research. Its motors and control box fit inside the hand itself. As a result, it works as soon as users connect a USB cable and a power supply. The company keeps the price low by making the parts with high-precision 3D printing.

Six motors drive 13 joints, so the hand can both pinch small items precisely and grasp larger ones firmly. In addition, springs built into the joints let the fingers flex on contact and help prevent damage in collisions. Users can also unscrew the fingertips and swap in sensors or different materials. Moreover, the hand mounts directly on popular collaborative robot arms. Therefore, students and researchers can start experimenting quickly with free control software or simple Python scripts.
