Description

Walker Tienkung is a full-size humanoid robot from UBTECH Robotics, a leading robot maker based in Shenzhen, China. UBTECH developed it together with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. The robot stands 170 cm tall, about the height of an adult. UBTECH built it for universities, research institutes and developers. In fact, it launched as the industry’s first full-size research humanoid priced under ¥300,000.

Walker Tienkung moves in a natural, human-like way. For example, it can run, climb stairs and walk across slopes, sand, grass and even snow. In addition, it keeps its balance when someone pushes it or when it takes a hit. Its lightweight body combines aerospace aluminum with titanium alloy in key parts. As a result, it can handle the repeated testing that research work demands.

The robot grows with each lab’s needs. Teams can add seven-axis arms, dexterous five-finger hands and a movable head. Moreover, they can fit depth cameras, LiDAR, force sensors, a voice kit and an NVIDIA Orin computer. A quick-swap battery pack lets it work for long sessions without overheating. Therefore, researchers can test many ideas on one platform, from walking to object handling.

UBTECH makes Walker Tienkung a truly open platform. It opens access to the motors, sensors and motion control, and it supports the ROS 2 ecosystem. Furthermore, users get detailed robot models, training tools, guides and sample code. UBTECH also plans to release open datasets for AI training over time. In short, Walker Tienkung lowers the cost and effort of full-size humanoid research.
