Description

Sherpa Mecha is an industrial humanoid robot from Ati Robotics, formerly known as Ati Motors. The company runs its headquarters in Michigan, with operations in Mexico, India and Southeast Asia. Sherpa Mecha pairs two arms with a torso on an autonomous wheeled base. As a result, it can drive, reach and handle items in one continuous workflow. Ati built it for real factory work rather than demos or research labs.

Unlike many humanoids, Sherpa Mecha does not walk on legs. Instead, it rides on the same wheeled base that powers thousands of Ati’s Sherpa robots. This proven platform lets it navigate busy factory floors without tape, beacons or safety cages. In addition, its torso extends up and down, so it reaches from floor level to eye level. Meanwhile, 3D LiDAR and cameras help it spot people and obstacles as it works.

The robot moves bins, totes and parts between conveyors, shelves and workstations. For example, it can tend machines, swap tools and support fastening and inspection tasks. Its arms use carbon fiber, which keeps them light, strong and precise. Moreover, Ati designed the robot in separate modules for faster repairs and less downtime. Therefore, factories can keep it running with simple field service.

Ati targets industries such as automotive, pharma, food and beverage, and electronics. The company now invites manufacturers to join as research and innovation partners. Together, they plan to develop custom tools and software for specific production tasks. Customers can also join pilot programs before wider rollout. In short, Sherpa Mecha offers a practical, wheels-first path to humanoid automation on the factory floor.
