Description

The Dex5-S is a five-finger dexterous hand from Unitree Robotics, the Chinese company behind the Go2 and G1 robots. Unitree unveiled it in September 2026 as a successor to the Dex5-1. It matches the size of an adult human hand. In addition, it gains extra joints and now offers 22 degrees of freedom. For example, the little finger can now roll inward, just like a person’s pinky when cupping an object. As a result, the hand wraps around tools, bottles, and odd shapes with a more natural grip. Its slim aluminum alloy shell also keeps it light enough to mount on a humanoid robot’s wrist.

Every joint has its own motor, so the fingers react quickly and give way when something pushes back. Thanks to this backdrivable design, robots can feel contact and adjust their grip instead of crushing fragile items. Moreover, the hand connects through Ethernet, USB, or RS-485, which makes it easy to fit into different robot platforms. A palm camera can link straight to the hand, too, so builders skip extra cables along the arm. Unitree aims the Dex5-S at research labs, humanoid developers, and teams that train robots through teleoperation and AI. Finally, Unitree also offers a Pro version for more demanding projects.
