Description

Digit 5 is Agility Robotics’ newest humanoid robot, built specifically for warehouses, factories, and distribution centers. It represents the company’s fifth generation of hardware, following three years of real-world use by its predecessor, Digit 4. Because Agility built it around direct customer feedback, the robot targets tasks that logistics and manufacturing teams already struggle to staff. As a result, Digit 5 aims to solve a very practical problem: getting reliable labor into facilities that face constant worker shortages.

Safety sits at the center of what makes Digit 5 different from earlier industrial robots. Traditional robots on a factory floor usually work behind cages, kept separate from people for safety reasons. Digit 5 instead uses onboard sensors and AI software to detect nearby workers in real time. Consequently, it can slow down, stop, or move out of the way before getting too close. It also gives visual and audible cues, so people around it always know what it plans to do next. Because of this cooperative safety design, Agility says Digit 5 can work directly alongside employees without needing a fenced-off work zone.

On the performance side, Digit 5 focuses on strength and stamina rather than flashy movement. It can repeatedly lift about 23 kilograms, roughly 40% more than the previous model could handle. Additionally, its reach extends higher than before, letting it work with shelves and equipment placed well above head height. A new, faster-charging battery lets it spend far more time working and far less time plugged in. Therefore, Agility says Digit 5 can stay productive for roughly 20 hours within a single 24-hour shift. The robot also ships with swappable grippers, so operators can quickly switch tools as job requirements change.
