X-Humanoid posts 9.39 second 100 meter run in Beijing

An X-Humanoid robot completed a 100 meter sprint in 9.39 seconds at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, according to the Associated Press. The result was faster than Usain Bolt’s 9.58 second human world record, although the event organizers did not disclose enough technical or procedural detail to support a direct comparison.

A second X-Humanoid machine reached 2.88 meters in a standing high jump, up from the best humanoid result of 0.95 meters at the 2025 event. Organizers compared that figure with Javier Sotomayor’s 2.45 meter human high jump record, but the disciplines differ: the robot performed a standing jump, while the cited human record comes from conventional high jump competition.

Benchmark details remain thin

The AP report does not identify either X-Humanoid robot model or provide dimensions, mass, actuator specifications, autonomy level, timing method or competition rules. Without those details, the results are better treated as event specific humanoid locomotion benchmarks than as settled equivalents to human athletics records.

Honor also reported that one of its humanoid robots ran 100 meters in 9.32 seconds during a trial before the games, reaching a peak speed of 14.5 meters per second. That result was a company claim, and the report supplied no model name or test protocol.

The five day competition, held at Beijing’s National Speed Skating Oval, is in its second year. Organizers said teams from 16 countries were participating across running, table tennis, soccer, weightlifting and tug of war. Hundreds of humanoids also marched in formation during the opening ceremony.

A visible test venue, not a deployment metric

Sports competitions can expose balance, impact tolerance and motion control under repeatable tasks, but they say little by themselves about reliability during sustained work. The source notes that humanoids remain concentrated in demonstrations, performances and research, with mass real world deployment still limited.

The scale of the Beijing event does provide a useful snapshot of China’s dense humanoid development field. It opened during the same week as the 2026 World Robot Conference, where companies displayed around 3,000 products, including humanoid platforms.
