Apple is Reportedly Exploring Humanoid Robots
Tech giant may be looking to integrate advanced robotics into its smart home ecosystem.
Apple is reportedly investigating humanoid and non-humanoid robots as part of its next wave of smart home innovation. According to a report from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, these projects are in the proof-of-concept (POC) phase, meaning they are still in early experimental development. If Apple proceeds, mass production is not expected before 2028 or later.
This potential move aligns with Apple’s long-term vision of integrating AI and automation into everyday life. While details are scarce, industry speculation suggests that Apple’s robotics efforts could build on its machine learning, voice recognition (Siri), and smart home technologies. A humanoid assistant could complement Apple’s HomePod, Vision Pro, and other smart devices.
Unlike its usual secretive approach, Apple has been relatively open about some of its robotics research, possibly as a way to attract top talent in the field. However, Kuo warns that many of Apple’s ambitious projects never move beyond the POC stage, citing the recently canceled Apple Car as an example of an idea that failed to reach production.
Apple would not be alone in pursuing humanoid robotics. Tesla and 1X has already introduced humanoid robots, and startups like Figure AI and Agility Robotics are developing similar technology. However, Apple’s strong design and ecosystem integration capabilities could differentiate its approach if the project moves forward.
With the rise of AI and automation, the next decade could see humanoid robots becoming a natural part of home and workplace environments. If Apple enters the market, it could redefine human-robot interaction—just as it did with smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches.
For now, Apple’s robotic ambitions remain speculative, but with its history of transforming industries, it’s a development worth watching.
