Standing at approximately 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) tall, the PX5 boasts impressive bipedal locomotion capabilities. Its self-developed high-performance joints enable top-tier walking and obstacle-crossing abilities, allowing it to navigate complex terrains with remarkable stability. The robot can perform indoor and outdoor walking for over two hours, demonstrating its endurance and versatility.

One of the PX5’s standout features is its dexterity. The robot is equipped with ultra-lightweight humanoid arms and highly articulated hands. Each hand has eleven degrees of freedom and can exert a gripping force of 1 kg. This level of dexterity allows the PX5 to manipulate objects with precision, opening up possibilities for various tasks in both industrial and domestic settings.

The PX5’s hands utilize a hybrid rigid-soft drive scheme, enabling them to grasp and envelop objects of various shapes. Remarkably, the entire hand unit, including control and drive components, weighs only 430g, showcasing XPENG’s focus on efficiency and lightweight design. The hands are also equipped with end-point tactile perception capabilities, further enhancing their ability to interact with the environment.

In addition to its impressive hands, the PX5 features an ultra-lightweight humanoid mechanical arm with seven degrees of freedom. This arm achieves a repeat positioning accuracy of 0.05mm and boasts a load-to-weight ratio exceeding 0.6 (3kg maximum payload/5kg self-weight). The arm can reach a maximum end-point linear velocity of 1m/s, demonstrating both precision and speed in its movements.

XPENG has demonstrated the PX5’s capabilities through various tasks, including playing soccer and riding a self-balancing scooter.
