The humanoid robot rental industry is rapidly expanding in China, with vendors offering rentals ranging from 2,500 yuan ($344) to 100,000 yuan per day. This surge in availability reflects a growing interest across various sectors, including commercial and entertainment industries, and brings society closer to the possibility of “every household owning a humanoid robot.”
A quick search on major e-commerce and second-hand platforms reveals a diverse range of humanoid robots available for rent. For instance, the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, suitable for exhibitions and corporate events, is listed at 5,000 yuan per day with an additional 500 yuan deposit. Some vendors even promote services with tags like “Spring Festival gala edition humanoid robot rentals.”
The increasing accessibility of humanoid robots signifies their transition from confined laboratory settings to mainstream society. These robots are now utilized in various industrial applications, from car manufacturing to live performances. Notably, Shenzhen-based EngineAI showcased a humanoid robot performing a front somersault, marking the world’s first robotic front flip.
Industry experts anticipate significant demand for humanoid robots in the near future, spanning industrial production, service sectors, and household use. As mass production scales up, costs are expected to decrease substantially. Unitree founder Wang Xingxing predicts that within the next five years, or even sooner, every household could own a humanoid robot.
